The Operation Intelligence Layer

The value is made
on the floor.
Nothing was ever
watching it.

Decades of methodologies came and went. The waste stayed. This is the layer built to end that cycle.

// Conscious Operations is intentional. By the operators. For the operators.

Deployment ready CADE AIS standalone R.SPECTRUM next

Why this exists

We have stood on that floor.
We have seen the waste.
We built the fix.

NONE published OEE benchmark exists for this industry. Our own trade association says only that flexo OEE is "often a low percentage and a large pill to swallow". You cannot improve what nobody will write down. Source: Flexographic Technical Association, "Overall Equipment Effectiveness 101: How Does OEE Factor into Your Manufacturing Operation?"

MIS counts jobs. ERP counts dollars. Neither one can tell you why a run is turning to waste while it is still running, while it can still be saved. That blind spot has cost this industry for decades.

This layer closes it. Not from a spec sheet. From the floor itself. Do the right things, for the right reasons, and leave every plant better than we found it.

The long version

The full thesis behind this layer, fact-checked and free to read: what decades of automation actually changed, what it did not, and why the anilox roll never got a memory of its own.

The stack

Five intelligences, one layer, built for the press floor no other system was built to hold.

02
R.SPECTRUM
Ink intelligence. Every formula, batch, and dispense under control, so colour stays repeatable and ink stops disappearing.
03
Plant intelligence
Air-gapped and local. It turns your floor's own history into the standards that keep it running right.
04
Operation intelligence
It turns the press floor into decisions while the run is still live, on a layer MIS and ERP were never built to hold.
05
Factoring intelligence
Ink and anilox factored as one system, so target density holds true across the whole run. Unlocks when both are live.

Designed and built by people who ran the floor, not just people who built software.

Every workflow, every feature, and every decision comes from firsthand production experience.

What the record looks like

One anilox roll, eighteen months, as CADE AIS keeps it. This is the memory the roll never had.

ROLL A-1140 360 LPI · Hexagonal 60° · 6.5 BCM spec · Press 3 deck 4 Grade A · 96
SPEC 6.50 BCM ACTION ZONE −12% FEB 25AUG 25JAN 26JUL 26
In spec Drifting Out of spec A person acted Not measured
  • Feb 2025 Roll enters the registry. Volume measured at 6.50 BCM and recorded as the reference every later reading is judged against. Grade A
  • ?Nov 2025 Ninety-six days with no measurement. The gap itself is on the record, so nobody has to guess whether the number is current. Stale
  • !Dec 2025 Volume down 8.0 percent. Last cleaned forty-one days earlier, so the loss reads as recoverable plugging rather than permanent wear. Grade C
  • Jan 2026 Deep clean logged. Volume comes back to 6.35 BCM. The record was right, and the roll stays on the floor. Grade B
  • ×Jun 2026 Volume down 13.7 percent, past the action zone. Cleaned twelve days earlier, so this time the loss reads as wear. It will not clean back. Grade D
  • Jul 2026 Re-engraved. Volume restored to 6.50 BCM and the trend starts again from a fresh reference. Grade A

In December this roll looked finished. The record said it was plugged, not worn, and one deep clean proved it. That is six more months of production out of a roll most floors would have replaced on a hunch. In June the same record said the opposite, with the evidence to back it, and nobody argued.

What you actually get

Six things a clipboard and a spreadsheet cannot give a plant.

01
Immutable

Once it is written, it stays.

Every entry is attributed and timestamped, and once it exists it stays. Corrections are recorded as corrections, so the history shows what was believed at the time and what was learned later. What this floor actually did becomes a question with an answer instead of a recollection.

02
Audit Ready

The evidence is already in the form the question expects.

Attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, accurate. That is the frame a data-integrity auditor already brings. We do not sell you a certificate. We make sure the evidence is already in the form the question expects, rather than something assembled the week before the visit.

03
Sovereign

On your box, in your building, exportable any time.

Every plant gets the box. The history sits in your building, in a format you can open without us. There is no account to suspend and no export queue to wait behind, because withholding it was never something we were able to do.

04
Zero Overlap

Nothing you run gets displaced.

MIS counts jobs. ERP counts dollars. Both have always taken the floor's numbers on trust, because there has never been anything down here to ask. That is ending. As auditors move from taking numbers on trust to asking for evidence, the question lands on the floor, and the floor will have an answer instead of an estimate. Nothing you run gets displaced, because nothing you run was ever holding this.

05
Compliance

Five frameworks. One record.

21 CFR Part 11, OSHA HazCom and GHS with SDS, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, and BRCGS Issue 9 ask overlapping questions about the same events. One record answers all of them, held seven years where Part 11 requires it, so one wash does not become five sets of paperwork. It does not make a plant compliant and it protects no one from a finding. It makes you ready, which is the part software can actually do.

06
Future Proof

Capture it once, and the whole stack can use it.

The floor starts building a record on day one, and that record is already in the shape the rest of the stack expects. No migration, no second system, no starting over when the next capability arrives.

Who built it

Kimby Cruz Lapira

Chief Architect and Founder

Your Operator

I started at the bottom, as a temp helper, and then worked every role the floor had. Folder and rewind operator. Unit operator. Console. Imaging. Pre-press. Ink tech. Utility tech.

Most people give this trade a decade and become excellent at one station. I worked all of them. That is not a longer career, it is a different shape of career, and it is why this layer has no blind spot at the seams. The seams are where the waste lives: the remakes, the re-cleans, and the arguments nobody could settle without a record.

I taught myself to build software as a teenager. Not a puzzle game. An open-world MMO with a SQL back end, C-sharp and C++, and 3D modelling. Full stack, before I could drive. I ran the press. Now I write the system.

What's in it for everyone

I built a system once, on my own time, and it never reached the floor. I asked what was in it for me, and the honest answer was that nobody had thought to ask. So this time the question gets answered first, for every person the system touches.

  • The operatorYour judgement gets written down with your name on it. When a number is questioned, the record answers, and you are not defending your memory.
  • The leadYou can see whether a reading is current before you act on it. A gap in the record is on the record.
  • The plant managerYou find out whether a roll is plugged or worn before you replace it, not after.
  • The ownerThe history sits on your hardware, in your building, in a format you can read without us.
  • The tradeThe knowledge stops retiring. What the floor learns, the floor keeps.

One person's presence is contagious.

Philosophy

Conscious Operations is intentional.

Not by drift, not by habit, not by whoever was on shift. Every run should leave behind the reason it went the way it did.

Mission

Give the press floor the layer it never had. Capture why a result happened at the moment it happens, and keep that knowledge on the floor instead of letting it walk out the door.

Vision

A floor that does not just perform better, but knows why it performs better, and compounds that knowledge every shift. The end of the cycle where the methods change and the waste stays.

Conviction

A plant should never have to trust us to get its own history back. So we built it where we cannot hold it hostage. It lives on your hardware, in a format you can read without us, and it outlives any agreement between us. Owning your own record should not be a favour we grant.
